Instead of studying, I've been reading about Stu Sutcliffe, Beatle No. 5. He's so cool. I think he out John-Lennoned John Lennon.
Also reading about Aurangzeb. This is good. I'm supposed to be reading about Aurangzeb and working on my take-home Medieval India exam. Right now I just want to point and laugh at Aurangzeb because he tried to make his own Taj Mahal and failed miserably:

HA! Even his trees look stupid!
I'm fond of my Medieval India class, but I always have a little bit of trouble following along. Excerpt from the introduction to my professor's book:
The period between the Mughal and the British empires defies categories. When discussed at all, it is treated hurriedly as a hiatus in India's political and cultural history, an era of fragmentation, anarchy, stylistic decay, selfishness, and greed in which successor states, in contrast to the firmer imperial systems, haplessly thrashed about like fruit trees in a high wind, their produce becoming riper, if more bruised, while waiting for the British to pick and consume it at leisure. Historians love success; if they cannot write about the Grand Mughals or the dashing proconsuls of the East India Company, they tend to condemn the lack of what is assumed was imperial unity, and sulkily anticipate more ordered times.
He talks the same way he writes, whether the subject is Mughal emperors, Islam, his upcoming wedding, or roadkill. Nice fruit analogy, though. It's almost as good as his Indian socio-political structure/tiramisu analogy.
Fortunately, Hinduism class covers a lot of the same topics. Hinduism professor is much easier to follow. Hinduism professor, on Aurangzeb: "If anyone ever asks, 'Who's your favorite Mughal emperor,' don't say Aurangzeb. Most people say Akbar, I'd recommend looking into Babur, but no one likes Aurangzeb. If you should ever visit his grave, make sure to do something vile. I have friends who throw toenail clippings on it."
Anyway, if anyone is planning on posting an entry on, say, Sikhism or the Marathas, now would be a great time to do it. I'll put you in my citations.
